The Medical Technician / Phlebotomist provides comprehensive phlebotomy services to veterans across inpatient outpatient emergency and STAT environments ensuring timely and accurate specimen collection and processing in alignment with VA and laboratory standards.

Key Responsibilities
-
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for:
-
Properly label handle and transport specimens according to VA and laboratory protocols.
-
Process and prepare specimens for internal testing and external send-outs.
-
Ensure accurate patient identification and adherence to safety procedures.
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy and processing areas.
-
Follow infection control privacy and information security standards.
-
Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff nursing staff and providers.
Mandatory Qualifications
-
Minimum of 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience.
-
Fluent in spoken and written English.
-
Ability to work varied shifts including evenings and limited weekends/holidays.
Health & Compliance Requirements
(To be completed within 5 days of offer/assignment)

Negative TB test (TST or IGRA).
-
Proof of immunity: Measles Mumps Rubella Varicella.
-
Vaccinations: Tdap Annual Influenza Full COVID-19 vaccination.
-
Hepatitis B series completion or signed declination with test results.
Required Training
-
BLS or ACLS (must be kept current; typically renewed every 2 years).
-
VA Privacy & Information Security Training (annual).
-
VHA Privacy & HIPAA Focused Training (annual).
Candidate Profile

Experience: 2 to 5 years.
-
Seniority Level: Mid-Senior.
-
Management Experience: Not required.
-
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Willingness to Travel: Always (as required by assignment/location).
