Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Medicine Division of General Medicine is seeking a board certified/board eligible genetic counselor to join our fantastic clinical team of 5 genetic counselors. The primary role of this position is to support the mission of the UNC Health Genetics Program to advance the health of all North Carolinians through excellence in genetics care. The clinical faculty genetic counselor will practice independently and as part of a specialty team in the area of hereditary cancer and adult genetic counseling utilizing a variety of practice models including telemedicine eConsults and in-person care. Contributions to clinical training including teaching and supervision of fellows residents and students is expected. Opportunities to engage in ongoing research projects and practice improvement efforts are supported and encouraged. Rank is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
The ideal job applicant will have prior experience ( 1 year) in cancer and general genetics clinics. They should be comfortable seeing patients independently and using a variety of practice models including telemedicine and point-of-care support. As a member of the Clinical Genetics team the genetic counselor is expected to work with different physicians (geneticists and non-geneticists) in established clinics as well as contribute to the development of new clinical services.
