Job Summary

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

Schedule:

Mid Shift: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
5 days per week 8-hour shifts
Weekends and holidays rotating based on department needs

Assignment Type: 13-week contract

Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the safe and effective decontamination disinfection assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments and trays used in the Operating Room and other clinical areas. The role ensures quality and accuracy in instrument processing and supports urgent and emergent requests from clinical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Decontaminate disinfect wash assemble and sterilize instruments and surgical trays according to aseptic principles.
Operate and oversee sterilization and decontamination equipment including steam sterilizers Steris and Sterrad systems.
Assemble complex and simple surgical instrument sets accurately and efficiently.
Monitor and document sterilization and decontamination cycles for compliance and quality assurance.
Perform quality checks on instruments and trays with precision and reliability.
Respond promptly to urgent and emergent requests from clinical staff.
Maintain organized workspaces and adhere to infection control and safety standards.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a nationally accredited Central Service Technician exam and certification as a Central Service Technician OR
Evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for at least 1 year.
Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance.
