Jobs Plus is a key initiative within Henry Street Settlements Education and Employment Services a $10M division dedicated to fostering self-sufficiency by providing a continuum of services from early childhood education to adult workforce programs. Jobs Plus is a place-based workforce development program designed to support NYCHA residents in securing sustainable career opportunities while connecting them to financial and community resources. Our team remains engaged with participants beyond employment placement ensuring long-term career success and stability.
Position Overview
The Mental Health Clinician plays a critical role in supporting Jobs Plus members by providing direct clinical care coordination crisis intervention and therapeutic services to empower participants in achieving their career and education collaboration with the Clinical Wellness Coordinator the Clinician also promotes mental health awareness through community education and engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) OR an active LMSW licensure in New York State required.
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience with expertise in trauma-informed care substance abuse treatment and crisis intervention.
- Strong ability to build trust and establish therapeutic relationships with individuals facing high barriers to employment.
- Proficiency in a range of service modalities including ThriveNYCs Connections to Care model and case management strategies.
- Excellent communication documentation and organizational skills.
- Solution-oriented collaborative and proactive in addressing client needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Google Suite and web-based databases.
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Comfortable providing services both in-person and via video conferencing.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting performance metrics.
- Highly motivated with proven capacity to work independently take initiative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) Google Suite (Docs Sheets Slides Drive) Internet research Adobe Suite (Acrobat) database management systems electronic case management platforms and virtual communication tools (Zoom Teams).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual short-term crisis counseling to program participants.
- Utilize validated assessment tools to screen diagnose and develop targeted treatment plans.
- Manage a caseload of at least 10 members ensuring comprehensive and individualized care coordination.
- Conduct individual sessions with a minimum of 12 active members per week who are on track toward meaningful employment.
- Coordinate referrals to essential support services including long-term mental health treatment childcare domestic violence assistance substance abuse programs prenatal care homemaker services food pantries and parenting classes.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Wellness Coordinator and/or Assistant Director to facilitate community-based initiatives.
- Co-develop and lead psychoeducational workshops on mental health and wellness in partnership with the Clinical Wellness Coordinator.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate confidential client records.
- Document progress notes promptly and accurately within required databases.
- Meet required quarterly goals including completing at least 243 Patient Health Questionnaires (PHQs) in collaboration with the Clinical and Wellness Coordinator.
- Present client cases during supervisory reviews and submit bi-weekly funder reports.
- Participate actively in staff meetings and technical assistance sessions with HRA.
- Attend all meetings events conferences workshops and training mandated by the founder and supervisor.
- Support MHIs reporting requirements through the preparation of quarterly and annual operational reports.
