Senior Software Engineer Data Platform Infrastructure

Why This Role Matters

Our data platform sits at the heart of everything we do. Every day it powers over 9 million download jobs and 1.7 million customer queries and exports across the globe. As part of the Data Platform team youll work on the core systems that make this scale possible. Three tightly aligned teams own the responsibilities of job scheduling data retrieval storage transformation and exposing data across the product.

Were evolving our platform and technology stack and were looking for someone who can bring deep expertise in distributed systems data infrastructure and large-scale architecture. This is a high-impact role with meaningful influence on our technical directionand plenty of opportunity to learn innovate and grow.

About the Engineering Teams & the Role

Our teams own their product areas end-to-end making daily decisions in close collaboration within and across teams as well as with stakeholders. We work in small iterative cyclesexperimenting learning and deploying to production multiple times a day.

Our data platform is primarily built in Rust and runs in AWS. We use open-source technologies such as DataFusion Arrow Parquet and Iceberg and extend them with our own tooling to meet the unique needs of our product.

At Funnel engineers are responsible for the full lifecycle: from designing system architecture to implementation deployment and monitoring. With a customer-first mindset we continually strive to build products that solve real problems and exceed expectations.

Skills & Experience Were Looking For

• Experience with systems programming languages such as Rust C/C Java or Scala

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and operations (AWS preferred)

• Background in building distributed systems and addressing scalability reliability and fault-tolerance challenges

• Familiarity with large-scale batch processing systems

• Comfortable working in agile collaborative teams

• Strong communication skills and fluency in English

Location & Eligibility

At this time we can only consider applicants who are already based in Stockholm and meet one of the following criteria:

• Hold Swedish citizenship

• Hold EU/EEA citizenship and are currently living in Stockholm

• Have a valid Swedish work permit

Office-first

At Funnel we have an office-first approach and we work from the office a minimum of four days a week. We have lots of flexibility for when life happens during the summer through the holidays. We just like to avoid having standing remote days.
