What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney (Middletown CT) has an immediate opening for an Operations Leader. The person in this role will lead and support operations on our second shift.

The typical hours for second shift are 3:00PM - 12:00AM ET Monday through Friday. Training is available and may be required on our 1st shift for up to 6 months.

  • Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through employee meetings effective communications and in developing an efficient team that is responsible for engine assembly.

  • Establish standards and expectation for work effort and performance for subordinates. Give constant feedback on performance to those standards. Communicate with other department personnel and customers to ensure customer satisfaction and actively to address issues and engage the workforce in achieving production goals.

  • Coach employees to improve performance when needed.

  • Perform administrative functions as related to bargaining unit employees including maintaining training quality and attendance records.

  • Manage cell overtime and equitably distribute among employees.

  • Ensure department equipment is clean properly maintained records and labels properly affixed and uptime optimized while meeting all safety requirements.

  • Ensure that all employees are fully trained in required aspects of Environmental Health & Safety.

  • Ensure World Class safety culture is maintained and respond to all Environmental Health & Safety requirements promptly.

  • Ensure full involvement in CORE continuous improvement initiatives is consistently upheld.

  • Utilize CORE tools to improve production performance and reduce scrap rework and repair.

  • Ensure compliance to all Quality policies and procedures.

  • Control quality productivity and process flow to meet customer MRP requirements while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Advanced degree and 3 years of experience in Military Manufacturing Business Operations Management Engineering Aerospace or Aftermarket industry; OR Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant industry experience; OR Associates degree and 7 years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma or Military / Technical Training and 9 years of relevant industry experience

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Degree in STEM field; Engineering Business or Supply Chain preferred.

  • A&P License or industry experience with turbofan engines.

  • Personnel management experience particularly within a bargaining unit / union workforce environment.

  • Proven ability to lead mentoring coaching developing talent and motivate teams to achieve business goals.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical data blueprints and engineering drawings.

  • Organizational and project management skills PMP certification preferred.

  • Working knowledge of shop practices quality standards processes and procedures

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma QCPC and RCCA).

  • Experience using SAP Solumina Teamcenter and MS Office Suite.

  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management shop personnel and customers

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD - 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.
