Key Accountabilities
Assist with teamwork of the operation with the day-to-day patient flow including but not limited to: the day to day functions and activities of the department efficient and effective department operations and quality patient care; flexible to participate with rotating day shift schedules assignments paperwork and monitoring of patient stress testing.
Administer radiopharmaceuticals.
The technologist will be responsible for assisting with the efficient operation of the department with other members of the nuclear medicine department and basic skills of all patient care services.
Maintain compliance and quality standards with Connecticut state regulatory requirements and accrediting agencies-ICANL.
Communicate and ensure compliance with institutional/departmental policies and procedures quality standards and improvement initiatives and safety standards.
Complete proper preparation calibration and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals (under the direction of an authorized user) the performance of quality control procedures and the operation of imaging laboratory and computer instrumentation.
Completion and documentation of daily weekly and monthly camera quality control along with required daily and weekly departmental tasks(I.E. surveys and wipes)
Perform all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures accurately following department protocols.
Ensure patient safety and comfort before during and after procedures.
Explain procedure and address patient questions or concerns.
Follows policies and procedures to ensure patient care.
Attends required staff meetings.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality. Follows all rules regarding breaking glass in electronic health record (EHR).
Adheres to HIPAA OSHA and EHR regulations.
Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Associate degree/Certified Vocational Training or bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine
ARRT Registration or NMTCB required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
1 year of relevant experience is preferred but not required.
Excellent verbal and communication skills are required.
Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
Ability to set priorities be organized and be a self-starter.
Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
Ability to be friendly empathic and an adept communicator.
Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect.
Working Conditions Physical Requirements
Support function will occur within Cardiology practice clinical settings and work spaces.
Exposure to communicable diseases toxic substances preparations and other conditions common to a physicians office.
Support function will occur within various clinical settings and workspaces.
Incumbent may be required to work at any facility based on operation need and schedule may vary.
Travel to various practice locations will require ability to drive valid drivers license and use of own reliable transportation.
Physical activity will include walking standing and sitting.
Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs. or providing physical assistance to patients.
Must be able to lift 50-75lbs.
Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence computer screen forms etc.; and good manual dexterity.
