JOB DESCRIPTION

The Innovation and Grants Department at Lynn Public Schoolsis responsible fordeveloping and implementing college and career readiness programs districtwide. This includes career exploration andwork-basedlearning programs for students in Grades 6through 12 as acomponentofthe Massachusetts My Career and College Plan (MyCAP).The Work-Based LearningManagerwill work withthe Innovation DepartmentEarly College Coordinators school leadersschool counselorsteachersand otherstoimplement work-based learningand career explorationexperiences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree.
  • Strong communicationskills using a variety of digital tools including Microsoft Outlook/One Drive.
  • Effective marketing skills for employer recruitment.
  • Strongoral and writtencommunicationskills are.
  • Experience working independently on projects and as a fluid member of a team.
  • Other work and community experience will be taken into consideration.
  • Must be able to transport self to offsite meetings with employers and community partners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Additionalcourses towardBachelorsdegree(orBachelorsdegree)preferred.
  • Understanding ofthe local and regional labormarket.
  • Experience inproject-managementand work-based learning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Tocoordinate work-based learning experiences in partnership withthe Innovation and Grants Management DepartmentinLynnPublic Schoolsas partofthedevelopment andimplementation of the Career Pathways Programin Lynn high schools.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Workwithschooland district leadersto implementwork-basedlearning experiencesincludingcareer speakers career site visits job-shadowsand internshipsat LynnHigh Schools.
  • Coordinateassignedhigh schoolcareer speakers career site visits jobshadowsandinternships
    • Be present at school tofacilitatecareer speakers and visits from business partners.
    • Facilitate the Work-Based Learning Plan documentation process and other relevant paperwork for students enrolled in the Executive Internship course;assistwith entering grades as needed.
    • Support student recruitment and creation of interest lists so that students with identified career interests have access to relevant opportunities
  • Develop working relationships with school faculty students community agenciesleadersand employers
    • Serve aspointof contact within the assigned school building for theLynnCareer Pathways Program.
    • Liaise with school counselors school clinicians the Innovation Department and other staff to provide student support when challenges arise.
    • In collaboration with the Innovation Department andits identified administrator engageemployers to develop existing and new work-based learning experiences in a variety of businesses and industries.
    • Providementorship andsupport to studentsinwork-based learning experiences
    • Provide support to employer partners and internship hosts to ensure a positive experience for both interns and employers.
    • Assistin coordinating student interviews and internship placements with business partners
    • Attend off-site meetings with community partners.
  • Helpstudentsdevelopemployability skills and professionalism forhands-on experience withrelevantcareer pathways.
    • Assistwith class content on work readiness including refining resumes interviewing employer expectations and business etiquette.
    • Facilitate visits from communitypartnersincluding theMassHireYouth CareerCenterto provide training on job readiness.
    • Contribute todevelopmentof career seminar courses for students.
    • As needed work with students to provide direct feedback on resumes interview skills and job performance in collaboration with employer partners and the Innovation Departmentadministrator
  • Work to increase the visibility of the Early College and Career Pathways(ICP CTE) programsthroughrecruitment and outreachtothe LPS communityemployersandcommunity-basedorganizations
    • Providerecruitment within the assigned school building for individual programs and internships.
    • Actively recruit new career speakers and business partners from a diverse range of organizations including local businesses government education trades etc.
  • Facilitate career speakers to engageLynn students with different career paths and opportunities connected to various content areas.
    • Support scheduling into relevant content blocks and liaise with speakers department heads and teachers to ensure a seamless visit.
    • Support teachers with project-based-learningregardingcareer awareness.
    • Create family career speaker events to engage parents and students in career awareness of the Career Pathways Program
  • Organize field trips and job shadows includingfacilitation ofcareer-specificawarenessfield trips.
    • Coordinate buses for career exploration field trips.
    • Be responsible forrequisite paperwork fornursing department forWBL relatedfield trips.
  • Collaborate with Early College Coordinators in aligning career experiences with Early College pathways for students in the Early College program.
  • Understand a variety of career pathways and the projected employment needs in the states regional blueprint
  • Understand different post-secondary paths including higher educationtrades militaryetc.
  • Collaborate with high school teams on committees.
  • Utilize OneDrive Schoology PowerSchool and Naviance to complete proccesses and track progess.

REPORTS TO: Innovation Department Executive Director or Innovation Department Administrativedesignee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Twelve month position
  • 25 hours per week

SALARY:$45000annually
