ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/LABOR & DELIVERY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:
Patient Care Technician in Labor and Delivery work across the unit from antepartum to within the Labor and Delivery triage Unit in order to provide the highest quality of care to our diverse patient population. As a Magnet recognized organization our L&D team has a strong quality improvement focus and our nurses are always developing unique solutions for their patients.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Patient Care Technician in the Maternal Child Health/L&D Department you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients on L&D and their families.
Clinical services could include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs bathing and feeding dressing wounds assisting with hygiene cleaning rooms and linens and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe clean and appropriately equipped environment for patients visitors and staff on L&D.
Contribute to the efficient operation of L&D ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED certificate
Certification in basic life support (BLS) including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved patient care technician
Completed an approved patient care technician training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Compensation Range:
$23.19- $27.17This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
