Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment a vacancy will arise for a OF4 / OF5 to serve as RCDS ALUMNI COMMS AND ENGAGEMENT OFFICER at Seaford house London on FTRS (HC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 01 September 2026.

Unit Function: The Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) is the senior college of the UK Defence Academydelivering theGlobal Strategy Programme(GSP).

Position Role: The Alumni Communications & Engagement Officerwillapply intelligenceinsightand influence todevelop and exploit the RCDS alumninetworkfor the purposes of Defence Engagementusingcompelling communicationsengagementandliaisonactivities to drive forward RCDS and wider MODandHMG ambition.

Responsibilities:


1. Develop the Alumni Network using the Enterprise Alumni platform SUMMIT. Grow membership from RCDS HCSC ACSC ACSC R with prime focus on RCDS.

2. Develop RCDS Strategic Communication and Engagement Strategy linking in with appropriate stakeholders.

3. Draw on alumni speaker and staff networks to develop partnerships and collaborations. Lead on the Churchill Lecture Series involving RCDS alumni and associated VIPs.

4. Support the wider Defence community to develop and implement targeted opportunities for alumni. Attend the IGDN 3* Steering Group on behalf of the DComdt.

5. Evaluate best practice to inform strategic communication and engagement activities. Manage social media and communication platforms according to agreed guidelines.

6. Develop a clear pipeline of communications and engagement activity to manage and place pro-active and reactive RCDS Public Relations.

7. Work closely with 1 x HEO civilian at DefAc whose role includes social media events planning digital presence and alumni management. Grow relationships with DefAc Comms.

8. Support delivery of the RCDS Centenary in 2027 working to the Project Officer RCDS 100.
