The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time11-month academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position at the Instructional assistant professor Instructional associate professor and Instructional professor level depending on qualifications to teach medical pathology histology and pathophysiology in the pre-clinical curriculum. Anticipated start date spring 2026.
EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicines innovative medical education program developed in a partnership with the Texas A&M College of Medicine Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital to educate physicianeers a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health cares greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nations only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houstons Texas Medical Center (TMC).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in developing and delivering the pre-clerkship curriculum
- Work with other EnMed faculty to integrate medical training with instruction in applying engineering principles toward advancing medical innovation and improving clinical medicine
- Teach within the foundational and organ-block courses in the pre-clerkship curriculum with a focus on pathology histology and pathophysiology
- May also be required to teach or lead pre-clerkship courses based on areas of expertise
- Contribute to curricular development and development of innovative instructional methods participation in committees admissions and fostering collaboration among the three EnMed partners
Required:
- Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in related discipline
- Specific expertise is required in one or more core pre-clerkship curricular topics including pathology histology and/or pathophysiology with clinical insight into disease presentation and reasoning
- Demonstrate a commitment to education that synergistically aligned with the goals of EnMed
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in a preclinical curriculum
- Engineering background or experience working with students with engineering degrees
