Job Summary

  • Advisory & Technical Grade 5 Salary from $99938.00 plus super and leave loading

About the role

The Agriculture Advisor plays a key role in delivering responsive high-quality field services to support customers with best-practice agricultural and farm management.

This position works closely with regional producers to enhance productivity while promoting sustainable land management and provides critical support to customers in emergency planning preparedness response and recovery efforts.

We are looking for an individual who can:

  • Undertake responsive and effective frontline activities including meeting with customers on site undertaking field work providing advice regarding agriculture and land management
  • Support delivery of agricultural projects ensuring best-practice project management and governance methodologies are used
  • Collect and collate data analyse information and provide accurate and appropriately balanced advice reports and recommendations on agricultural production issues
  • Undertake activities that contribute to the implementation of the Local Plan
  • Support partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders to address agricultural productivity
  • Provide a frontline customer service providing information and advice to inform client land management decisions to support the implementation of and compliance with relevant legislation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current legislative and regulatory requirements impacting primary producers and current best practice farm and land management


About You

To be successful in this role our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence
  • A willingness to work and travel in a remote area often unaccompanied
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and advocate for our customers
  • The ability to thrive in a remote team environment engaging with colleagues based in various regional offices
  • Be motivated and resourceful with a strong capacity to act without constant supervision

*To be considered for an ongoing appointment applicants must be ongoing at either an equivalentor higher grade than this advertised vacancy (LLS Grade 5 or Clerk 5/6) OR on a current and valid talent pool at this grade or higher.

Alternatively if you do not meet the requirement for an ongoing appointment you may only be considered for a temporary appointment of up to 12 months.

Please note that DPIRD will be closed during the period 25 December 2025 to 11 January 2025 (inclusive). Recruitment process will recommence in January 2026.
