Job Overview

The British Council enjoys a strong reputation in Egypt as the leading provider of English language courses. Egypt plays a major role in the British Councils English Language Teaching (ELT) work across the whole Arabicspeaking region. There are excellent opportunities for further development in various directions. The centers run CELTA distance DELTA TYLEC and various management and general training courses. There is sponsorship available on most courses for suitable candidates. For more experienced teachers there is a supported environment to enter into teacher training and coordinator opportunities. A mix of adult and young learner courses are taught in all the branches. All fulltime teachers are expected to teach both adults and young learners as part of their teaching hours which may require them to teach over the weekend and on Saturday evening.

Role Purpose:

  • To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
  • To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience

Main Accountabilities:

  • Plan prepare and deliver 25 hours of English teaching tailored to diverse customer groups and learning styles.
  • Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback to support learner autonomy.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop evaluate and enhance English courses and materials.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to uphold high teaching standards and promote best ELT practices for the British Council.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:
    • Child Protection
    • Equality Diversity and Inclusion
    • Antibribery
    • Information management
    • Health and safety

Qualifications


Essentials

  • Bachelorsdegree (in any discipline)
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertificateTESOL

Work Experience


Essentials

Newly Qualified Teacher

  • 0 Years postcertificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience (Required Newly Qualified applicants)

Teacher of English

  • 2 years postcertificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity CertificateTESOL experience
  • Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
    • Adults General English 800 hours)
    • Young adults aged 517 400 hours

Newly Qualified Teacher

Salary

  • Local salary: 15731EGP (Gross)

Teacher of English

Salary

  • Local salary: 17536EGP (Gross)

Additional Information

  • As per applicable laws the British Council will deduct contributions from your EGP monthly salary at rates determined by the National Social Insurance Authority.
  • Annual leave allowance: 35 days per year of paid leave plus a minimum 14 public holidays
  • Medical Insurance: You and your family will be covered with the Councils Group Medical Insurance offering comprehensive coverage.
  • Contract duration: 2 years
  • Renewable period: 1 year
  • Contracted working hours: 37.5 per week.
  • Right to work in the country This opportunity is open to Egyptian nationals only. Work permits can only be obtained via the British Council for Egyptian passport holders.
