About the Team
Were a team of engaged developers who love building reliable scalable systems that solve real customer problems. We always looking for ways to become more efficient at what we do and find value in learning new technologies and modernizing our tech stack to achieve this.
As a team we are making significant investments into our tech stack by improving our data structure increasing automation scalability and software quality. Our biggest challenge right now is building a comprehensive database of payer policy data and keeping it up to date while ensuring the data is accurate accessible and relevant.
Our technology stack is JS/TS PHP Python and Go with PostgreSQL as our primary data store. Our single page application is written in React. Many of us are full stack developers and we care deeply about building quality products.
Position Summary
The Full Stack Developer III (Independent Contractor) calls for someone ready to experiment and find solutions for difficult problems. The role requires someone who appreciates challenges is not afraid of asking questions and enjoys working with others. We are looking for someone who is comfortable raising issues and risks and raising them early.
The position will be working with PhP and python and is a true Full Stack Developer working on a 50/50 split of Front End and Back End tickets.
Role & Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership to the team. Including but not limited to:
Code reviews
Code guidance mentorship on software development best practices as needed
Proactively identify roadblocks analyze situations coordinate troubleshooting and problem-solving activities ensure proper follow up for post-incident analysis are completed and implement necessary process improvements
Contribute to projects to achieve project goals with a mix of front-end and back-end code dependent on the specific project
Work towards departmental goals and objectives like improving accuracy of technical project estimates improving critical test coverage and overall code quality
As a projects technical lead collaborate with teams outside of Engineering to ensure that all stakeholders understand project goals requirements and realistic timelines
Skills & Qualifications
5 years building a variety of web applications
Experience working with React webpack and other modern web development tool chains
Strong competency with the React framework on both greenfield and brownfield projects
Writes tests early on and values decoupled easily testable code
Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
Excellent debugging troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Knows how to structure applications for long term maintenance and ongoing flexibility
Great communication skills (written and verbal) and be a fast learner
Strong understanding of common web exploits with knowledge on how to prevent them
Experience writing and reading RESTful APIs
Experience with using AI Tools like Cursor AI or Amazon Q/Kiro
Very comfortable with PostgreSQL
Contract Information
This is a remote 40 hour per week contract-based engagement with Policy Reporter offered under an Independent Contractor Agreement.
