Role Description
RoleDescription
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design build and optimize the data layer for a modern Azure-based healthcare platform. This includes operational databases (Program User Patient Transaction) analytics pipelines data warehouses and enterprise reporting solutions. The role demands strong expertise in data modeling performance tuning security and analytics enablement.
Key responsibilities
- Design normalized and domain-driven schemas for Program User Patient and Transaction databases in Azure SQL / PostgreSQL / Cosmos DB.
- Define data models aligned with microservices boundaries and healthcare domain entities.
- Implement partitioning indexing and query strategies to ensure optimal performance at scale.
- Conduct query tuning index optimization execution plan analysis and storage optimization.
- Implement caching and partitioning strategies for high-throughput systems.
- Build data quality checks and performance SLAs for operational workloads.
- Implement encryption at rest (TDE) and in-transit (TLS 1.2) row-level security column masking and access policies.
- Ensure PHI protection aligned with HIPAA HITRUST and enterprise security guidelines.
- Support audit logging and compliance reporting.
- Define and implement backup/restore plans high availability setups and disaster recovery strategies.
- Conduct DR drills and document RTO/RPO metrics.
- Design fault-tolerant data infrastructure supporting 24x7 operations.
- Design and implement enterprise data warehouse / lakehouse for reporting and analytics.
- Lead ETL/ELT pipelines from operational data stores to analytics environments using ADF/Synapse/Fabric.
- Work with BI teams to design dashboards KPIs and metrics for leadership and operations.
- Build scalable pipelines to integrate data from operational databases analytics store BI layer.
- Optimize ingestion transformation and aggregation pipelines for speed and reliability.
- Implement data validation lineage and meta-data management.
- Build and publish dashboards using Power BI Tableau or SSRS ensuring usability and performance.
- Define KPIs operational metrics audit outcomes trend analysis and leadership reporting views.
- Support self-service analytics and ad-hoc reporting.
Technical Skills
Skills requirements
- 5 years in data engineering or data architecture roles.
- Strong experience with Azure SQL PostgreSQL Synapse ADF Databricks Azure Storage.
- Expertise in data modelling schema design performance tuning indexing and partitioning.
- Hands-on with ETL/ELT pipelines data quality validation and analytics modeling.
- Strong understanding of BI tools (Power BI Tableau SSRS).
- Experience in healthcare domain or PHI-sensitive environments is highly preferred.
