Job Summary

Position Summary
Associate Director of Family Programming & Communications ( NSFP ) develops and leads programs and services for parents and family members of Carolina students and serves as the staff liaison to the Carolina Parents Council. The Associate Director designs and delivers year-round education and leadership training programs for 70 NSFP student leaders (Undergraduate Fellows Orientation Leaders Week of Welcome Board Members and Project Coordinators) and serves as NSFPs staff liaison for New Student Convocation. The position develops and co-manages communications efforts for NSFP . The position supervises a full-time Coordinator for Family Programming & Communications. The Associate Director reports to the Director for New Student & Family Programs.

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
- Successful candidates must have the ability to work effectively in teams and individually in a fast-paced environment; - Demonstrated understanding of belonging within the varied student and family populations; demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation for these concepts among students and families; - Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of first-year and transfer students and their families and how to best program serve and communicate with these constituent groups; - Proven ability to prioritize work appropriately and adapt easily to changing priorities as well as work independently on multiple tasks and deal effectively with conflicting priorities; - Excellent oral and written communication skills and have a technical proficiency with developing content for print publications websites and social media. - Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
- A minimum of five years of full-time professional experience post-degree attainment in higher education or related field. - Previous experience in developing or implementing programs for family members of college students and/or student orientation or transition programs is preferred. - Previous experience with college student leadership development and program implementation. - Working knowledge of fundraising processes including a cursory understanding of the annual giving cycle development of solicitation materials and principles of cultivating and stewarding family donors. - Excellent interpersonal diplomatic and communication skills necessary to develop successful working relationships with a variety of members of the University community and external constituents. - Strong writing editing and proof reading experience.
