This leadership role oversees the districts Safe Drinking Water Program providing guidance and direction to subordinate staff to ensure the protection of public health. The Sanitarian 6 manages biological and chemical sampling operations conducts Class 1 Surveys and compiles districtwide progress reports to support program accountability and regulatory compliance. The position also plays a key role in directing public health response activities during emergencies ensuring communities receive safe reliable drinking water under all conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Sanitarians license plus one of the following which must include one year of experience at the supervisory level or above:
Five years of experience as a sanitarian; OR
A masters degree in public health food science dairy science environmental or sanitary science or one of the physical or biological sciences plus four years of experience as a sanitarian.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in the Molluscan Shellfish program require that applicants complete the Louisiana Boating Education program and be certified by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
