Job Description
This position performs work to assist in the maintenance and operation of the Citys treatment plants and wastewater pipelines. Makes sewer taps repairs installs pipes and manholes. Maintains facility paints mows lays brick and cement. Makes minor building construction repair work and assists in the maintenance of equipment and vehicles. Works in trenches and confined spaces. Assists in cleaning sludge drying beds when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Training Experience and/or Other Requirement
Must be able to work on-call in response to City related operations. Uses good judgment to work safely; to use equipment properly and wears protective equipment when needed. Must be able to follow both oral and written instructions and have a strong sense of customer service. Must be able to obtain wastewater certification within 1 year of employment. Preference: Experience with care and operation of treatment plant facilities or similar field related work.
Additional Information
City employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include but are not limited to being communicative informative fair honest and respectful. All City employees are required in the course and scope of their employment to provide services for the benefit of the public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Kingsvilles citizens. City employees must be able to work immediately before during and/or immediately after an emergency.
All positions require the following:
1) Valid drivers license
2)High School Diploma or Equivalent
3) Satisfactory driving record and
4) Proof of eligibility to legally work in the U.S.
The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a pre-employment physical examination drug screen and background investigation. For additional information: Call or E-mail EOE.
