General Summary:
Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team the Clinical Nurse I (CN I) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients using the CN II as a resource. The nursing care reflects independent assessment planning implementation and evaluation of the patients physical psychological and sociocultural needs. Demonstrates competencies essential in the use of all equipment utilized in the care of patient age groups as indicated. A CN I is the entry step to the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder. The CN I has one year to progress to the CN II level.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Etc.:
Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing. Current licensure from the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse and current BLS/CPR certification. Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes Orientation Checklist. Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification. Must have theoretical knowledge combined with beginning level clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.
Working Conditions:
Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.
Reporting Relationships:
Responsible to Nurse Manager or in his/her absence the Administrative Supervisor. May receive direct instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse.
Workers supervised: Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
Shift/Schedule
Full Time - 36 Scheduled Weekly Hours
7a-7:30p
Every other weekend and holiday.
