Case Management Supervisors with Criminal Justice Services do work that really matters. JOB SUMMARY

Provides supervision and direction to subordinate staff and coordinates workflow within the work unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Social Sciences Behavioral Sciences Public Administration or other closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior supervisory experience.

Due to the nature of this position the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.


Employees must maintain authorization to enter the jail and maintain Division-wide training requirements annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides supervision and direction to case management staff including answering questions and resolving problems within the work unit.
  • Creates a process for and monitors the assignment of caseloads to ensure appropriate supervision levels.
  • Supervises staff which includes hiring orienting training assigning and reviewing work performance annual work performance appraisals and discipline.
  • Ensures that case managers perform intake risk/need assessments pre-sentence report investigations maintain up-to-date monitoring of court requirements and provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies.
  • Reviews work performance (including PSRs as necessary) monitors accuracy and timeliness of case management activities and conducts quality assurance audits.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of staff within the work unit. Provides training coaching and ongoing support for new and existing case managers.
  • Schedules staff coverage to accommodate client services and workload needs by rearranging staff assignments as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison/information source between the work unit courts other criminal justice agencies treatment agencies and the public.
  • Assists in the developing writing and implementation of internal policies job descriptions and guidelines in conjunction with Administration.
  • Provides coverage in the absence of the Program Manager or other supervisory staff to assist in the smooth operation of the unit/division.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

Knowledge of:

  • Basic supervisory principles
  • Case Management methods and techniques
  • Criminal Justice System including state mandates legal documents and terminology.
  • Community Social Service Agencies
  • Basic PC operations
  • Rules practices and procedures pertaining to the work unit to which assigned

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Work with computer software related to job-specific duties
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Effectively interpret general policies criteria and procedures for specific situations
  • Understand county and division personnel policies and procedures
  • Plan assign and supervise the work of subordinates
  • Work as part of a team
  • Interact confidently with Judges and other criminal justice personnel
  • Maintain complex and confidential records
  • Identify and understand problems and determine the appropriate measures to solve those problems

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work duties are typically performed in a general office setting or jail environment. Travels to locations throughout the County.
