About CMHHFL
The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHH-FL) is one of two state hospitals serving our community. The vision of CMHHFL is to provide the highest quality mental health services to persons with complex serious and persistent mental illness within the resources available. Our mission is to support those individuals in achieving their recovery goals and reaching their full potential. CMHH-FL provides inpatient treatment to adult patients generally between the ages of 18-59. The hospital has 138 adult inpatient beds and over six treatment milieus serving civil and forensic individuals. Medical services occupational therapy neuropsychological-rehabilitation services and trauma-informed care services are available for all patients throughout the hospital.

Description of Job

About the Position
This position is responsible for the provision of neuropsychological evaluation treatment intervention and consultation. The Neuropsychologist provides services across all units within the hospital and partners with all treatment teams. This position is responsible for identifying those that may be in need of neuropsychological evaluation and/or intervention as well as responding to team referrals. The Neuropsychologist completes comprehensive neuropsychological reports and documents regularly in the hospitals electronic health record addition this position builds relationships with community stakeholders and contributes to identifying patient disposition needs. The Neuropsychologist functions as part of the psychology department and regularly contributes to hospital-wide events development of new trainings contribution to existing trainings facilitation of in-service training and program development.

Duties in this position include:

Neuropsychological Evaluation:

  • Evaluates the neuropsychological condition of patients throughout the hospital utilizing specialized tests and interview data and provides neuropsychological diagnosis and treatment recommendations to referring psychiatrists/teams via written Neuropsychological Assessment and Reports.
Individual and Group Intervention:
  • Determines the type and nature of individual and group therapy or rehabilitation services needed to facilitate recovery.
  • Decides the frequency and content of individual and group cognitive rehabilitation programming offered throughout the hospital.
  • Facilitates groups and supervises trainee facilitation of Strong Minds groups on all teams.
Treatment Planning:
  • Consults with Teams on treatment plans via case conferences and formal treatment plan review meetings and helps design therapy programs as appropriate to patient based on cognitive and neuropsychological deficits.

Supervision and Teaching of Trainees:
  • Supervises neuropsychological assessment activities of post-doctoral fellow pre-doctoral interns and doctoral psychology students and teaches seminars on neuropsychology attended by interns and staff members.
  • Supports APA-accredited predoctoral internship program in accordance with APA standards by providing supervision teaching seminars and being involved in intern selection and quality improvement.
  • Assumes an active role in the Psychology Discipline to include such activities as attending regular discipline meetings representing the discipline in hospital-wide committees and other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises neuropsychological assessment activities of predoctoral interns and doctoral psychology students (if applicable)

Consultation:
  • Consults with multidisciplinary team members on clinical cases treatment planning and discharge recommendations.
  • Considers neuropsychological assessment strategies administration and interpretation of specific tests and integration of neuropsychological assessment results into the treatment planning process.
Psychology Department Testing Administration/Coordination:
  • In addition to determining appropriate tests for Neuro-Rehab services works with the clinical director and the psychology team to identify and order appropriate testing materials. Serves as lead/point person for online testing platforms working with clinical director to communicate with testing companies etc.

Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:

Current valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners

AND

One (1)yearof experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist
candidate.

No Substitutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous or current State experience
  • 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology

    SPMI experience and/or inpatient psychiatric experience

  • Doctorate in Psychology

Conditions of Employment:
  • Due to the juvenile population served at the MHI facilities incumbents of this position must be at least 21 years of age
  • Full Background check:

    • This position will also providedirect careto vulnerable adults requiring a CAPS check (as defined by C.R.S. 26-3.1-101 position provides services & support care to at-risk/vulnerable adults including case management clergy physical or mental health services safety or welfare services).

  • Additionally you will be required to take a drug screen.
  • A Tuberculosis Test (TB) will be required upon hire and other vaccines as required by the State of Colorado.
  • Motor Vehicle Check: Must possess a valid non-restricted Colorado Drivers License or an non-restricted U.S. Drivers License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border

  • Out-of-State Drivers License holders must obtain a valid non-restricted Colorado Drivers License within 30 days of employment start date.

  • This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting) and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.

  • Travel: In-state travel required. May travel to transport patients to appointments if needed.

  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must:
    • Disclose that information on the application.

**The compensation for this position will be based on years of professional licensure.**

CDHS Selection Process Explanation

Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
