Job Summary

Position Summary

The Dean of Institutional Advancement and Development reports to the President and is responsible for overseeing the colleges foundation planning implementing and managing strategies to secure philanthropic support for the colleges mission of advancing higher education. This role focuses on cultivating relationships with alumni donors corporations and community partners to increase annual giving major gifts planned giving and sponsorships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

At a minimum the essential functions of this position shall include:


Foundation Oversight
  1. Oversee the strategic and operational activities of the colleges affiliated foundation.
  2. Develop and monitor budgets to maximize financial resources.
  3. Work with appropriate personnel to develop policies on investments and asset allocation.
  4. Research investments and track funds in conjunction with the President and the Foundation Board.
  5. Develop and execute annual and long-term fundraising plans aligned with the colleges mission.
  6. Identify engage solicit and steward donors through personalized outreach events and recognition programs.
  7. Manages College committees to oversee shared governance by faculty and staff ensures fair and objective representation of all College stakeholders and dissemination of committee guidelines responsibilities and results.
Reporting and Compliance
  1. Maintain and monitor budgets track donations and ensure compliance with applicable laws regulations policies and reporting requirements.
  2. Maintain accurate records of all donations.
Board Liaison
  1. Recruits orients and trains appointed Board of Directors in conjunction with the President.
  2. Serve as the primary liaison to the Foundation Board preparing agendas reports and strategic updates.
  3. Provide the Board with monthly status reports regarding fundraising efforts.
  4. Lead the Board in the development of strategic plans.
Community and Alumni Relations
1. In conjunction with the Marketing Department create varying methods of communication.
2. Strengthen relations with alumni and alumni families to develop an alumni association.
3. Conduct community outreach by participating in chambers of commerce service clubs and local events within and outside of the college.

Campaign Management
1. Lead and support capital campaigns scholarship drives alumni outreach estate planning and special initiatives.
2. Develop and maintain systems for the identification of donors and potential donors.
3. Ensure timely acknowledgement of all contributions.
4. Maintain communication with prospects and donors on an ongoing basis.
5. Develop a portfolio of the Foundations top donors to be personally visited at a minimum once a year including face-to-face solicitations.
6. Stay abreast of contemporary fundraising trends.
7. Stay abreast of current issues in higher education.

Event Coordinator
1. Plan and manage fundraising events donor receptions and alumni engagement activities.

Relationship Management
1. Build and maintain relationships with government officials and other decision makers to facilitate communication and advocacy.
2. Act as a role model for employee morale and good community relations.
3. Understand college-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their goals.

Monitor Developments
1. Track regulatory and legislative developments that could impact the college.

  10. Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work meetings and office hours.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Five years of current Higher Education experience.
  3. Three years of supervisory experience in one or more of the essential functions of the position.
  4. Knowledge of and demonstrated competence with the SACSCOC accreditation and compliance process.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data management statistical analysis and the generation of outcomes reports for various audiences.
  6. Knowledge of Federal/State/Local grant guidelines and budget management.
  7. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  8. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to work well with others and work under pressure.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Higher Education administrative experience preferably in a community college setting.
