Job Description: SAP SME Consultant
Location: Neenah or Oconomowoc in Wisconsin area
Contract role
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP ABAP Consultant with deep experience across ECC and S/4HANA environments and can work as a SAP SME for validating client Tech Specs for moving data from SAP to a data lake ( primarily written for SAP data sources ). The ideal candidate will be proficient in custom development Z-table data extraction and validating detailed technical documentation that maps extracted data to business logic. This role requires strong analytical capabilities cross-functional collaboration and strong client communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand technical specifications that are written by ABAP developer on ABAP programs in ECC and S/4HANA systems.
- Analyze technical specifications that are written to reverse engineer the custom Z-tables across modules (FI MM SD HR etc.).
- Collaborate with functional teams to understand business logic and data dependencies.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including:
oData extraction logic
oField-level mappings
oBusiness rule interpretation
oSource-to-target lineage
- Responsible to review the technical specification document and ask the right clarifications such that data engineers could then use the technical specification to develop data lake ETL routines.
Required Skills & Experience
Core ABAP (ECC & S/4HANA) experience to review and validate technical specifications:
- Classical & OO ABAP programming experience
- ALV Reports (Classical and OO)
- BDC BAPI RFC SmartForms Adobe Forms
- User Exits Customer Exits BADIs
- Function Modules Modularization Macros
Advanced ABAP (S/4HANA-centric) experience to review and validate technical specifications:
- CDS Views (Basic & Composite)
- AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures)
- OData Services and Fiori integration
- ABAP RESTful Programming Model (RAP)
- Core Data Services annotations
- Business Object Processing Framework (BOPF)
Data Handling & Extraction experience to review and validate technical specifications:
- Z-table extraction with joins filters delta logic
- Performance tuning of SELECT statements
- Open SQL and Native SQL usage
- Data dictionary object creation (Z tables views domains data elements)
- Handling clustered and pooled tables (ECC legacy)
Documentation & Technical Design
- Technical Specification Document (TSD) preparation review and validation
- Field-level mapping and source-to-target lineage
- Business logic annotation and transformation rules
- Functional-to-technical traceability
Preferred Qualifications
- 8-10 years of SAP ABAP experience with at least 3 years in S/4HANA.
- Experience in ECC to S/4HANA development & migration projects.
- Good understanding of FI CO SD MM PP & SRM processes and modules.
Exposure to BI/ BW is an added advantage
