NegotiableGeneral Description/Primary Purpose:
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration is seeking a 9-month tenure-earning Assistant Professor of American Politics and/or Public Administration/Public Policy. Position responsibilities include a 2/2 teaching load research/scholarship and service.
Supervisor: This position will report to the Department Chair.
Working Hours: Varies
Supervision Exercised: This is not a supervisory role.
Required Licensure: N/A
Anticipated Start Date: The position is expected to begin on August 3 2026.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Political Science Public Administration Public Policy Government or a related discipline is required by the employment start date.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
The department seeks a dynamic scholar for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in American Politics Public Administration and/or Public Policy. Candidates with a primary background in just one of these fields are encouraged to apply though the ideal candidate would be able to contribute to multiple areas. Subfield expertise is open with respect to research focus although the department welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in data science particularly the application of data-driven approaches to public policy questions. The successful candidate would be able to utilize the departments top 15 nationally ranked polling center and would also have opportunities to teach in the departments NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. The department also has curricular needs in American politics public administration and research methods.

About the Department: The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science (BA) Public Administration (MPA) and International Affairs (MAIA) as well as minors in Political Science Public Administration Public Service Leadership and Political Campaigns. The department includes the Public Opinion Research Laboratory (PORL) a highly ranked full-service survey research facility as well as the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP) and the Pre-Law Program.
