Job Description:

Lead a team of communication professionals in the development and execution of communications plans / programs / projects / strategies by designing and delivering communications consistent with TDs communications standards and strategies and in support of business results.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Oversee/lead the development of communications to address enterprise/business needs/plans in alignment with internal communications standards and/or goals ensuring that strategies designed enhance TDs presence with key stakeholders highlighting TDs brand community and innovation initiatives

  • Oversee/ lead the delivery and management of programs/project plans by assigning and tracking workgroup projects ensuring established processes are followed and delivering all projects on strategy on time on budget and error free

  • Evaluate the impact of communications on the achievement of enterprise/business results and ensure communications solutions/initiatives are strategically sound and consistent with TDs customer experience and brand image; ensure a high level of service by setting clear standards and continuously assess the effectiveness of programs processes and documentation and incorporate lessons learned into current and future projects/programs

  • Provide input and work on cross-functional plans/projects/programs/initiatives; understand the enterprise/broader functions disciplines and how they link together to deliver integrated solutions

  • Develop and manage good working relationships and maintain open dialogue with key internal/ external business partners and stakeholders to ensure adequate execution of project deliverables

  • Actively work to resolve escalated issues and manage changes within the project/program/initiative

  • May create/manage the implementation of digital and social content strategy across multiple channels for internal /external stakeholders

  • Develop proactive public relations campaigns that drive share of voice and enhance the brand

  • Provide strategic media counsel support and acts as a bank spokesperson when appropriate

  • Exercise judgment in dealing with sensitive reputational issues and provide counsel to executives

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corporate communications processes/services and recommend/champion possible enhancements

  • As a recognized expert within own field of expertise provide advice and guidance to employees and business partners on maintaining the brand standards application and execution within area of expertise

  • Maintain an understanding of TD businesses and products keep current with key business initiatives/issues/developments within TD emerging strategies capabilities and/or trends in the industry field of expertise to deliver effective communications solutions

  • Drive leading-edge use of visual media: video photography interactive digital features and infographics to tell TDs stories in compelling engaging and immediate ways

SHAREHOLDER

  • Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TDs operating model to maximize efficiency effectiveness and scale

  • Plan and execute on strategic activities review and communicate results and adjust tactics accordingly

  • Execute on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies

  • Manage overall budget revenue and expenditures meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness

  • Proactively identify key business opportunities research and recommend enhancements / modifications develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement

  • Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of strategies programs and practices related to own area of expertise

  • Protect the interests of the organization identify and manage risks and escalate non-standard high risk transactions / activities as necessary

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Contribute to the development of business segment and/or enterprise functional strategic priorities within their operational area or field of specialty

  • Develop annual and/or long term plans for own area and influences plans well beyond area managed

  • Responsible for management of the overall team providing both leadership and guidance

  • Set targets and objectives for the team and deliver results

  • Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered

  • Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews coach and develop employees and ensure performance management activities are undertaken and provide regular input into employee assessments and development plans

  • Lead the process of setting performance objectives for the team; track monitor and effectively address and/or reward performance in a timely manner

  • Manage employees in compliance with all human resources policies procedures and guidelines of conduct

  • Share knowledge information skills and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams

  • Support an environment where team freely escalates business challenges; facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes

  • Recruit for all hires to ensure a highly diverse qualified workforce to achieve business objectives

  • Establish and foster a cohesive team; promote a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourage the team to achieve common goals and objectives

  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank both internally and/or externally

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent setting goals developing staff managing employee performance and compensation decisions promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions as required

  • Oversee and leads a large and/or highly complex/ diverse communications function of significant scope while growing talent developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals support project / initiative success and achieve business results

  • Provides coaching mentorship and guidance to practitioners business executives within area of expertise

  • Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices

  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials with deep industry external / internal enterprise knowledge recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas

  • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals etc.)

  • Set operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals

  • Focus on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)

  • Generally reports executive role

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree orrelevant professional certifications designations or equivalentrequired

  • 10 years relevant experience
