Job Summary

The Mechanical Analysis & Test Radar Airborne and Space Systems (RASS) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded system support RASS delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

As an intern in the RASS Department you will be working one on one with a senior engineer tackling thermal analysis tasks that will give you a great hands-on learning experience. You will be responsible for performing the analyses/tests getting the results peer-reviewed and documenting the results in a report.

You will finish your internship with the satisfaction of knowing you contributed to the success of the RASS Department as well as the Raytheon mission to support our warfighters.

What You Will Do

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis
• Perform detailed thermal analyses to solve challenging problems
• Perform peer reviews of all analysis to validate process and results
• Deliver results to customers
• Generate detailed archival technical reports

• How to work as part of an Integrated Product Team collaborating with other engineering disciplines to solve challenging technical problems for our customers
• How thermal engineering is conducted in an innovative industry setting through comprehensive department-sponsored training and mentoring from senior staff

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be a rising junior senior or Post graduate by the start of Summer 2026 studying Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
• Experience with engineering Finite Element Analysis tools and software such as ANSYS Workbench Patran Nastran and/or Thermal Desktop
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

• ABET is the preferred although not required accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint
• Demonstrated experience working effectively with coworkers from various communities cultures work experience and conflict resolution styles
• Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO
• Experience with problem solving using data-driven approaches
• Hands on experience through academic or industry exposure

  The salary range for this role is 37000 USD - 82000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
