Position Overview
The Engineer Computer IV (EC4) serves as a Cybersecurity Software Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting secure software design development integration and analytics for Naval Control Systems (NCS) and cybersecurity programs. This role bridges Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) environments enabling secure software engineering automated DevSecOps pipelines data-driven analytics and advanced capabilities including High Performance Computing (HPC) Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The EC4 provides hands-on technical expertise to support modeling & simulation (M&S) cybersecurity risk assessments system modernization and mission readiness across both shipboard and laboratory environments.
Responsibilities
- Design develop and integrate secure software solutions for Control Systems (CS) shipboard systems and cybersecurity toolsets.
- Implement cybersecurity-by-design principles across code algorithms interfaces and system components.
- Develop data processing automation and analysis capabilities enabling enhanced system monitoring and risk detection.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting automated testing vulnerability scanning and secure deployment workflows.
- Integrate software into mixed OT/IT environments ensuring compliance with DoD Navy and RMF cybersecurity requirements.
- Support containerization configuration management and reproducible builds for NCS modernization.
- Contribute to or lead development of HPC-enabled algorithms data models and analytics pipelines.
- Develop or integrate ML/AI models supporting anomaly detection predictive maintenance and mission impact analysis.
- Enable simulation-based analysis and modeling of cyber-physical systems to support mission readiness.
- Collaborate with hardware network cybersecurity and test teams to ensure seamless integration of software capabilities.
- Analyze system architecture data flows and interfaces to validate cybersecurity controls and operational performance.
- Support troubleshooting debugging and optimization of software deployed across distributed or embedded environments.
- Develop technical documentation test procedures design artifacts and engineering deliverables.
- Support software testing events evaluations demonstrations and verification/validation activities.
- Provide subject-matter guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teammates.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Data Science Information Sciences Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
- Five (5) years of experience integrating hardware and software using Agile and/or DevOps/DevSecOps in a professional or academic environment.
- Preferred: At least one (1) year of experience developing HPC code Machine Learning models or AI algorithms.
- Proficiency in secure software development algorithm design and code integration within cyber-physical systems.
- Experience with Agile/DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipelines automated testing and secure deployments.
- Familiarity with HPC environments ML/AI workflows and data-intensive computing.
- Understanding of OT/IT integration control systems and cybersecurity hardening requirements.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary technical teams and solve complex engineering and cybersecurity challenges.
- Strong communication and documentation skills supporting technical reviews design artifacts and engineering reports.
Clearance Requirements
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Work Location: United States - Remote

Compensation
The salary range for this position is up to $74316. This is not however a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather salary will be set based on experience geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
