Job Summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Sqn Ldr (Air and Space Ops Air Ops (Any)) to serve as Tactical Datalink Standards 2 at MOD Abbey Wood on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve (90) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 04 May 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).

This is a pivotal role as the UK Desk Officer for Tactical Data Link (TDL) Standards. This is a unique opportunity to support NATO-level standards contribute to critical defence capabilities and represent the UK on the international stage.

Rolls and Responsibilities

Support UK TDL Standards Development
Assist in managing and coordinating the UK process for TDL standards ensuring alignment with operational needs.
Provide Desk Officer Support for TDL IO SME Contract
Help oversee and coordinate specialist support to maintain interoperability excellence.
Represent and Assist at NATO Forums
- Act as Deputy Head of Delegation to the NATO TDL Capability Team (CaT) Interoperability Testing Syndicate (ITS).
- Attend four key meetings per year contributing to multinational collaboration.
- Maintain the NATO Interoperability Matrix (IOM) and coordinate UK input to ensure our perspective is included.
Perform Data Stewardship Duties
- Manage and evolve the TDL Interoperability Reference Dataset ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Coordinate provision of data to users and maintain the UK TDL Capabilities and Limitations database.
- Assist in developing a strategy for sustaining and advancing interoperability data.
