A vacancy has arisen for a Sqn Ldr (Air and Space Ops Air Ops (Any)) to serve as Tactical Datalink Standards 2 at MOD Abbey Wood on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve (90) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 04 May 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).
This is a pivotal role as the UK Desk Officer for Tactical Data Link (TDL) Standards. This is a unique opportunity to support NATO-level standards contribute to critical defence capabilities and represent the UK on the international stage.
Rolls and Responsibilities
- Support UK TDL Standards Development
Assist in managing and coordinating the UK process for TDL standards ensuring alignment with operational needs. - Provide Desk Officer Support for TDL IO SME Contract
Help oversee and coordinate specialist support to maintain interoperability excellence. - Represent and Assist at NATO Forums
- Act as Deputy Head of Delegation to the NATO TDL Capability Team (CaT) Interoperability Testing Syndicate (ITS).
- Attend four key meetings per year contributing to multinational collaboration.
- Maintain the NATO Interoperability Matrix (IOM) and coordinate UK input to ensure our perspective is included.
- Perform Data Stewardship Duties
- Manage and evolve the TDL Interoperability Reference Dataset ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Coordinate provision of data to users and maintain the UK TDL Capabilities and Limitations database.
- Assist in developing a strategy for sustaining and advancing interoperability data.
