Reports to: General Manager

Summary/Objective: The NDT 2 Technician is responsible for performing Visual Testing (VT) Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in an ISO 9001 environment. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Qualified to properly perform specific NDT processes (VT MT & PT) and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record results.

  • Perform work scope review procedural reviews and documentation required and preparations of equipment and/or supplies needed.

Education / Experience Required:

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid California drivers license.
  • Must possess basic skills (reading writing and mathematical skills).

Preferred:

  • A plus 5 years of experience in a ship repair NDT environment.
  • LVL II Ultrasonic Testing (UT) qualified.
  • Able to read comprehend and prepare technical documentation specifications and procedures.
  • MS Office (Outlook Word Excel) computer skills.
  • Understand the Naval Ship Repair requirements and working environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position that requires 40 hours of work per week. M-F(or as otherwise assigned by NDT Supervisor) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.

Work Environment: This job operates in an office and also a shipyard work environment.

Travel: This position does require the ability to travel.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.

May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs. frequent stooping bending crawling reaching and walking.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

  • Completion of a satisfactory background check
  • Passing a drug test and physical examination
  • Eligibility to work in the US.
  • Obtaining DBIDS-level security clearance.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime
