Position Details
Charlotte Country Day School seeks an Upper School Computer Science and Mathematics Teacher to be responsible for collaboratively designing curriculum and creating a dynamic learning environment for students. Primary teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced Computer Science courses and Math courses. Comfort teaching AP Computer Science and supervising a related student organization is preferred. We are interested in candidates who are excited to work with and support high-school aged students have experience with multi-level and differentiated instruction and demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning.
Essential Responsibilities include:
- Teaching a course load of four sections of computer science and math (various levels) in the Upper School.
- Collaborating with teachers and colleagues in the development evaluation and revision of Upper School curriculum materials and programs.
- Attending professional meetings educational conferences and faculty training workshops to maintain and improve professional practice.
- Serving as an advisor to a cohort of Upper School students.
- Being a leader in the schools co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside of the classroom through coaching club advising etc.
- Other duties as assigned including attending regular faculty meetings professional learning days and additional student-related supervision responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelors degree or post-graduate work in computer science software engineering mathematics or a related subject area.
- Teaching Experience
- Significant experience teaching Computer Science and Mathematics preferably to high-school students.
- Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate (AP/IB) experience is a plus.
- Programming knowledge
- A strong understanding of programming concepts and languages particularly Java for AP Computer Science A is essential.
- Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practice.
