What youll be doing
Manage and lead a team of Transmission Design Engineers to develop and deliver standardized cost-effective engineering designs for transmission projects balancing innovation and lifecycle cost reduction. Act as a key influencer in investment planning for the Transmission capital program.
Lead a team of engineers to deliver compliant cost-effective solutions aligned with regulatory allowances.
Own Civil & Structural Engineering Design policy and standard design solutions across SPT.
Identify and implement engineering efficiencies into standard solutions.
Produce guidance for external contractors and customers on SPT asset design and construction.
Provide technical support for framework contracts to deliver project masterplans.
Ensure team resourcing and manage change to meet business targets through cross-functional collaboration.
Embed HSEQ policies in all engineering solutions.
Ensure compliance with SPT engineering policies standards and procedures; conduct audits on projects.
Support end-to-end project design through construction and record submission.
Resolve complex engineering problems using innovative approaches.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Define engineering scope during pre-engineering phases and advise on new requirements.
Audit Civil & Structural engineers across regions.
Deliver performance management training coaching and mentoring for the team.
What youll bring
Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering
Chartered Engineer (or working towards).
Extensive experience in civil and structural design for large electrical infrastructure projects.
Strong technical oversight leadership and communication skills.
Proven ability to implement CDM and Health & Safety best practices.
Experience introducing technologies to reduce project costs and carbon footprint for sustainable designs.
Knowledge of CDM regulations designer risk assessment and BIM for transmission substations.
Minimum Requirements
Engineering qualification (BSc/BEng) and/or postgraduate qualification (MBA MSc) or equivalent experience.
Civil & Structural detailed design experience.
People management capability.
