Norfolk Elementary SchoolsNorfolk MassachusettsTitleLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Part TimePosition The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves a dual-function role providing both one-to-one (1:1) nursing care to a specific medically involved student and acting as substitute coverage to support the needs of the Districts two primary School Nurses. This position requires flexibility strong clinical skills and a commitment to supporting the health and well-being of all students across the Qualifications Current and active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of from an accredited school of practical CPR and First Aid in pediatric or school nursing is communication organizational and critical thinking :Prior nursing experience requiredAdvanced computer knowledge and skillsFlexibility & Punctuality RequiredCollaborate with building nurses to support medical needs and administration of medication as prescribed by a toBuilding Principal(s)Essential Duties:Dedicated 1:1 Student Care and Coverage (Primary Function)Provide direct specialized nursing care to an assigned student requiring continuous observation intervention and documentation per the students Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP).Monitor the students medical status throughout the school day during transitions and during transport intervening immediately in the event of a medical accurate and timely documentation of all care observations and treatments in the students health record.2. District and Building SupportProvide substitute nursing coverage as needed to ensure continuity of care when either of the two full-time School Nurses is absent or away from their assigned the School Nurses with routine individual school needs across the district including immunizations record review height/weight screenings and emergency medical supply with medication administration for the general student population under the direction of the School Nurse(s).Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff for minor injuries and medical procedures safely and effectively under the direction of the School Nurse including seizure management and catheterization as necessary.3. Health Care Program SupportSupport the districts Before Care Program by ensuring students with established health needs (e.g. diabetics and monitoring of sugar students requiring specific morning medications or treatments) receive safe and timely care prior to the start of the school with the School Nurses to update IHCPs and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students transitioning into or out of the Before Care with health screenings such as vision and :Manage and monitor chronic health conditions such as asthma and diabetes for assigned students (May include before/after school hours based on needs).Support school nurses in maintaining comprehensive health records for all students including immunization records and health effectively with parents teachers and school staff regarding student health issues and to health-related emergencies in a calm and efficient all district policies and other duties as assigned by the Skills AbilitiesAbility to provide basic medical care to students as to monitor health and vital to administer medications as record keeping is with RNs is Range: $32 - $36/hour (commensurate with experience)Schedule: 10 Month Position (with opportunity for for Extended School Year) Part-Time (18 hours/week) 7:30am - 2:30pm Tuesday & Wednesday 8:30am - 12:30pm FridayThis description is not meant to be all-inclusive and the LPN shall be expected to perform additional tasks as assigned.
