Were looking for aMechanic Supervisor Ato join our Patrol Division to provide supervision guidance and logistical support in a mechanic repair shop. The Mechanic Supervisor A plays a key role in repairing and ensuring our fleet of patrol vehicles is properly maintained.
Four years of experience or training as a mechanic.
Job Duties:
As aMechanic Supervisor A you will be instrumental in repairing and performing preventative maintenance of our fleet of patrol vehicles.
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical electrical and computer-based automotive systems. It oversees the maintenance and repair of approximately 250 government vehicles including pursuit-rated and diesel-powered units. Typical repair work includes routine maintenance tune-ups air conditioning service cooling systems work brake and alignment adjustments tire replacements and electrical repairs. The position is responsible for a wrecker used to retrieve and transport disabled vehicles across Region IIIs 29-parish area of responsibility.
Under the authority of the Region III Patrol Major this position plans and directs all activities within its area of responsibility. It supervises lower-level mechanic positions and a staff of inmates managing the entire work order process from the creation through completion. Duties include assessing repair needs approving parts requests inspecting repairs during and after work and ensuring proper test drives to confirm repairs. The position also operates tow trucks and other vehicles capable of hauling trailers.
Further responsibilities include identifying and seeking professional development training for yourself and subordinates ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures and the maintenance of building and grounds for the Region III Headquarters and addition review work orders through fleet management software ensure all Troop E and Region III pool units and VIP units are in good working condition and available for immediate use.
Administrative duties include the proper recording of time and attendance performing data entries procurement of parts and equipment conducting inventories and completing employee performance evaluations. The job schedule is primarily Monday through Friday 7:00 AM through 3:30 PM with the exception of emergencies or natural disasters.
