English Teacher Long-Term Substitute (8 Weeks) JOB TITLE: English Teacher REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY: Chair of English Department; Principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 to up to 10 weeks Beginning February/March 2026 SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To oversee all aspects of classroom instruction to students ABOUT NOTRE DAME CRISTO REY HIGH SCHOOL (NDCR) : Established in Lawrence MA in 2004 NDCR is a private Catholic college preparatory high school currently based in Methuen Massachusetts and serving 300 economically challenged youth. NDCR is part of the Cristo Rey Network a growing association of 40 schools across the United States whose education model is built around the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) a unique and highly successful partnership with the business community. Through the CWSP students work five full days a month at one of 75 companies throughout the Merrimack Valley I-93/495 corridors and southern New Hampshire to earn the majority of their tuition. OUR MISSION AND VISION: In the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School provides a Catholic affordable culturally sensitive college preparatory education enhanced by professional work experience for young men and women from families with limited income. NDCR is known for graduating confident academically successful students who are spiritually rooted intellectually curious active community and global citizens and college graduated leaders. OUR CORE VALUES: Goodness of God Education for Life Integrity Respect Family Community RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach four sections of English including American Literature (11th Grade) and World Literature (10th grade) Ability to teach psychology a plus Experience in American and World Literature Use developmentally and behaviorally age-appropriate tools materials activities Maintain all pertinent records in PowerSchool Create a safe purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students Design and create appropriate lesson plans. Implement the History/Social Studies Curriculum aligned with the Cristo Rey Standards. Collaborate with other teachers instructional leaders and partners to ensure instructions is meeting the needs of all students Assess students regularly analyze data and determine appropriate next steps for instruction Build relationships and communicate regularly with students and their families to solicit input and share academic progress A desire to teach English Language Learners MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Teachers must possess: Bachelors Degree in English Creative Writing Literature Journalism Classics or a related field; masters degree preferred. Experience teaching in a Catholic high school preferred.
