Summary of Job Duties:
UAMS Family Medical Center in Ft. Smith AR is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our dynamic team. This role supports all sections of the Clinical Outpatient Laboratory through proper phlebotomy techniques as well as proper specimen accessioning processing and related activities. As a PRN staff member you will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule providing essential healthcare services to the community. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology excellent communication and customer service skills and a strong attention to detail. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School GED or formal educational equivalent required.
One (1) year of laboratory experience.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in following proper specimen collection procedures.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of experience working in a clinical laboratory or as a medical assistant and CPR CAN PBT MLA or CPT Certification.
National Phlebotomy Certification (ex. ASCP AMT etc).
Additional Information:
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and verify their identity.
Collect blood samples by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
Label all samples according to outlined procedures and policies.
Transport and package samples in accordance with policies.
Follow all health and safety guidelines.
Recognizes incorrect lab orders and corrects them.
Follows correct centrifugation collection storage and transport guidelines set forth in the test directory.
Adheres to lab policies HIPAA and Universal Precautions.
May perform POC testing when applicable
