Job Duties:

  • Maintain regular contact with a caseload of TRIO SSS Participants

  • Assesses and collaborates on the development of an Individual Student Success plan with Participants and regularly monitors progress towards goal completion.

  • Develops and implements Participant programming for required and permissible services in order to meet the standardized objectives of the TRIO SSS project.

  • Facilitates workshops in multi-modalities on a range of topics related to academic success skills financial literacy career development and goal setting.

  • Instructs TRIO SSS project 1 credit courses: TRDIS 120 Strategies for Academic Success and TRDIS 121 Strategies for Successful Career Development

  • Provides support and documentation to maintain project compliance with appropriate federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures.

  • Enters SSS Participant data and records/services in TRIO SSS project database to meet U.S. Department of Education reporting requirements.

  • Assist in the development and execution of Summer Early Bridge program for new students.

  • Proactively collaborate with College-wide departments faculty tutors and academic support staff to advocate identify and meet the academic needs of TRIO Participants.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Makes recommendations to improve retention efforts
  • Advocates for campus-wide retention initiatives
  • Provides referrals to appropriate campus resources
  • Maintains accurate student records including contact logs case notes and files
  • Adheres to the established plan of operation curriculum process policy program procedures and all other related federal regulations
  • Partners with academic advisors faculty staff students and administrative personnel to track analytics and help identify risk indicators to support data-informed retention and transfer strategies
  • Communicates assists and monitors progress of students
  • Monitors plans and facilitates student academic progress student programming and success plans
  • May assist with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion and/or provide financial aid/scholarship information

Department:

UW-Stouts TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programprovidessupplemental academic support and services for its 550 student participants.The departmentstrives to increase the retention and graduation rates of first-generation students students who meet federal low-income criteria and students with disabilities.The department is funded by three federal TRIO grants: Student Support Services Student Support Services: Disability and Student Support Services: STEM.

Funding for this position is contingent upon federal funding.

Compensation:

Competitive salarycommensuratewith qualifications and experience.A six-month probationary period is.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimumbachelors degreerequiredin higher education social work education counseling educational leadership or related fields from an accredited college/university.

  • Minimum of (2) years ofappropriateand relevant professional experience working with a TRIO federal program or similar related program/project

  • Minimum of (2) years of experience advising andassistingStudent Support Services eligible students with postsecondary courseselection academic advising financial aid information and processes economic literacy career development/obtainment and graduate school admissions

  • Professional/Personal experience overcoming barrierssimilar toproject participants

  • Formal training and/or work experience in programming that promotes the annual retention persistence academicstandingand graduation rates of Student Support Services eligible students

  • Formal training and or work experience in effective student counseling or advising specifically in the areas of guiding Student Support Services eligible students academic and non-academic goal setting and skill acquisition

  • Knowledge of academic advising career financial aid economic literacyactivitiesand related services for Student Support Services eligible students

  • Ability to effectivelymaintaina caseload of project participants and provide them with services and activities asindicateson their individual student success plan

  • Knowledge of disability barriers accommodations and ADA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in higher education social work education counseling educational leadership or related fields from an accredited college or university

  • Experience administering and interpreting career and personality assessments (MBTI Strengths Strong Interest Inventory)

  • Experience instructing college-level courses in first year experience or academic success skills content

  • Experience with database and engagement platforms and software such as: Blumen PeopleSoft Canvas Canva Microsoft Office Suite EAB NavigateStellic
