This role requires full time on site presence.

We are looking for a researcher for Radio-Canada Saskatchewan. You will keep up with current events and maintain contacts with various sources in accordance with the mandates of the various content types (Radio TV digital and social media).

Your role

In this role you will:

  • Add to and update the upcoming-event calendar and contact database.

  • Review and verify potential story topics.

  • Attend production meetings.

  • Propose story angles and guests.

  • Depending on the assignment help script reports.

  • Research gather assess and check information on stories covered.

  • Select written audio or audiovisual documents.

  • As needed isolate and assemble audio/video clips.

  • Provide information for graphics to accompany topics covered.

  • Find and if necessary choose interviewees. Conduct pre-interviews and prepare interview question lines for our hosts.

  • Suggest interview questions lines and scripts.

  • Prepare and present written and oral research reports.

  • Follow up with collaborators throughout the production and broadcast stages on digital platforms.

  • Create save and update files on news and current-affairs topics.

  • Field sort and reply to audience comments as needed.

  • Inform the newsroom of any event that deserves a news flash.

  • Carry out all other related tasks as needed.

  • Your work must also adhere to CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • One or more years relevant experience.

  • Extensive general knowledge.

  • Extensive knowledge of current events in Saskatchewan and the Franco-Saskatchewanian community.

  • Solid command of French (working language).

  • Intermediate oral writing and reading proficiency in English.

  • Very good knowledge of research tools and techniques.

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices.

  • Valid drivers licence as well as a driving record that meets the criteria of CBC/Radio-Canadas insurer.

Other:

  • Ability to work well in a team or independently be resourceful and take initiative.

  • Creative enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact-gathering.

  • Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Good judgment.
