Job Summary
The General Manager (GM) will lead all aspects of the pre-opening launch and ongoing operations of Courtyard by Marriott Nizwa. This includes strategic planning commercial performance talent acquisition and development guest experience and owner relations. The GM will be responsible for establishing the hotels culture operational excellence and financial success in alignment with Marriott Internationals brand standards and values.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Leadership
- Lead and execute all pre-opening activities including critical path planning budget management OS&E/FF&E oversight pre-opening recruitment and operational set-up.
- Ensure all brand standards are implemented and the hotel is fully prepared for soft and grand opening.
- Develop the hotels organizational structure service philosophy and operational systems.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day hotel operations across all departments to ensure service quality efficiency and compliance with Marriott brand standards.
- Drive guest satisfaction results by fostering a culture of service accountability and continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain strong operational controls to ensure profitability and protect assets.
Commercial Strategy & Financial Management
- Develop and execute commercial and revenue strategies to position the hotel competitively in the local and regional market.
- Oversee the annual budget forecasting and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure financial targets for GOP RevPAR guest satisfaction and associate engagement are achieved or exceeded.
People & Culture
- Recruit manage and develop a high-performing motivated hotel leadership team and workforce.
- Promote Marriotts culture of inclusion learning and associate engagement.
- Drive performance management succession planning and ongoing training across the hotel.
Owner & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong transparent and collaborative relationships with the hotel ownership group.
- Provide regular updates on financial performance operational status and strategic initiatives.
- Address owner priorities while upholding brand integrity and long-term business goals.
Brand Community & Compliance
- Represent the hotel within the local community building relationships with business partners tourism bodies and government entities.
- Ensure compliance with local laws safety regulations and Marriott policies.
- Uphold the Courtyard by Marriott brand identity through consistent service delivery and community engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 24 years of senior hotel leadership experience
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in revenue growth and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop teams navigate complex situations and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Exceptional communication stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
- International experience particularly within the Middle East preferred.
