The Aerospace Corporation is hiringan UndergraduateSystems EngineeringIntern.

The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospaces strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs customers and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.

Work Model

This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required onKirtland AFB in Albuquerque NM.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Interact directly with local Aerospace personnel local program office customers and collaborate with Aerospace personnel in other locations
  • Conduct analyses of experiment performance / requirements and architecture alternatives for mission design
  • Research historical missions and chart to current technology implementations
  • Assemble launch support information for use on day of launch
  • Participate in Do No Harm Mission Assurance where Launch Vehicles and Payloads are analyzed to improve likelihood of Mission Success
  • Provide general engineering support to the program office teams to meet customer goals
  • Duties responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned as needed
  • Training and mentorship will be provided

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing aBachelorsdegree in Aerospace Mechanical Electrical Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship
  • Sophomore class standing completed by internship start date.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficient in general office Microsoft tools; strength in math and engineering
  • This position requires the ability to obtainand maintaina security clearancewhich is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Work or volunteer experience with leadership responsibilities
  • Experience as a part of a STEM related project team (eg FIRST Robotics research team design project previous intern position)
  • Prior space-related work experience for a US government agency or contractor
