  • Schedule: Swing shift - 1 week of days Monday to Friday followed by one week of nights Monday to Friday. 10-12 hour shifts.

We are looking for professional Class 1 Truck Drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family in Armstrong. As an Arrow driver you will haul wood fibre locally in B-train trailers primarily transporting wood chips as well as sawdust and hog fuel. Your travel will start in Armstrong and use various highways throughout the Interior of BC including Hwy 1 (Coquihalla) Hwy 5 and Hwy 97.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads including equipment preparation application of safe practices compliance with applicable Acts andRegulations.
  • Perform pre and post andenroute trip inspections on equipmentoperated ensuring safetyroadworthinessand regulatory compliance.
  • Comply withapplicable legislation including safe operation load securement drivers hours of service occupational health and safety transportation of dangerous goods and weights and dimensions.
  • Complywithall rules and regulationsprotocolsand established metrics.
  • Efficiently maneuver truckand trailer(s)into loading or unloading positions following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Mayoperateloading equipment as per role requirements.
  • Check mobile equipment () to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order.
  • Report vehicle defects accidents traffic violations or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor.
  • Report all safety hazards or conditionsencounteredat load unloadyardand shop sites.
  • RecordMaintainand Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading) and documentation to ensure that it is complete andaccurate.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers CB radios and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases supervisors or other drivers.
  • Complete electronicand/or manuallogs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public customers and co-workers.
  • Assistin loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Perform periodic inspections before during and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor loads may be a requirement.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatchregardingcustomer problems mechanical problems or delivery problems.
  • Ensure that all customersco-workersand the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.
  • Train others when required.

You Possess

  • Valid Class 1 drivers license with air brake endorsement; Btrain experience required
  • Proven winter and mountain driving experience
  • Clean drivers abstract and ability to pass preemployment drug test
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) for safety reporting and coordination
  • Able to move up to 100 lbs; lift 50 lbs overhead and 75 lbs to shoulder height
  • Able to sit for extended periods
  • Computer literate with basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance
  • Dependable accountable and selfdirected; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to follow direction and crosstrain across facility functions
  • Organized with strong timemanagement skills
  • Flexible team player with strong interpersonal skills in a diverse environment
