Job Summary

Position Summary
The Employment/Life Coach supports Augie Access students and facilitates community engagement with Go Beyond adults as they pursue greater independence at work and in daily life. Guided by Augustana Universitys commitment to service community and shared humanity this role provides individualized coaching that strengthens confidence builds practical skills and promotes meaningful participation in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one coaching focused on job readiness résumé development interview preparation and workplace skill-building.
  • Support life-skill development including communication organization self-advocacy and problem-solving.
  • Co-teach Employment Seminars in the Augie Access program
  • Assist individuals in navigating transportation scheduling and community resources to support daily independence.
  • Implement Person-Center Planning (PCP) practices to guide individuals in creating a vision for the future and a plan of action to achieve that vision.
  • Partner with employers to encourage inclusive hiring practices ensure appropriate accommodations and promote long-term workplace success.
  • Track individual progress and maintain accurate documentation in alignment with program expectations.
  • Encourage personal growth through positive reinforcement mentorship and relationship-centered guidance.
  • Facilitate community engagement through identifying volunteer opportunities scheduling enrichment activities and promoting Augustana events.
  • Communicate regularly with Augie Access supervisor and Go Beyond pilot director.
  • Partner with employers to identify and arrange internship placements for Augie Access students.
  • Supervise Augie Access students internship experiences.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelors degree in human services education social sciences or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities or in employment support is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal communication time-management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated patience compassion professionalism and respect for individual dignity.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to applicable state and program guidelines.

Work Environment
This role includes travel to job sites and community locations. Some evening or weekend hours may be needed to support participant goals and scheduling.
