Job Summary

The program is seeking to recruit a Project Consultant with strong project management and process design experience and a passion for healthcare innovation and transformation. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of project management and Lean principles the ability to execute meaningful improvements using Lean methodologies and the application of change management strategies to ensure positive outcomes across all internal and regional projects within the surgical and ambulatory portfolio. The Project Consultant will report directly to the Business Manager.  

Key accountabilities include coordinating and executing clinical best-practice quality improvement initiatives for Surgical and Ambulatory Services; leading clinical priority project working groups using a variety of quality improvement methodologies and business applications throughout the project lifecycle; and consistently applying Lean principles. The role also involves collaborating with Surgical and Ambulatory Services leadership to develop and approve clinical policies procedures processes and practices that ensure ongoing alignment with relevant standards.

Accountabilities:

This role functions as an internal consultant responsible for implementing patient-focused improvement initiatives that are measurable sustainable and grounded in Lean continuous improvement and change management methodologies. The position supports the efficient utilization of resources and processes while promoting a safe environment for both patients and staff. 

 

  • Support clinical planning teams by organizing and facilitating process design sessions to develop efficient work and patient-flow processes for all clinical services within Surgical and Ambulatory Services.
  • Collaborate with internal Process Improvement Consultants Project Managers and transition planning teams to ensure operational readiness for new or evolving services.
  • Facilitate clinical process reviews and working group discussions to identify improvement opportunities ensuring suitability effectiveness and compliance through engagement with subject matter experts.
  • Interpret qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends assess performance and synthesize clear actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Design and document processes for new service delivery models.
  • Coordinate process and quality improvement activitiesincluding process mapping value-stream mapping and rapid improvement eventsto enhance organizational effectiveness and prevent duplication of efforts.
  • Support the successful implementation of approved process-improvement recommendations.
  • Coach teams in the development and application of Lean and continuous improvement practices with a focus on achieving measurable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methodologies to measure project results and impact.
  • Apply change-management principles tools and methodologies to support adoption and improve outcomes.
  • Manage improvement projects by overseeing prioritization governance structures tracking mechanisms and measurement of all work streams.
  • Escalate issues or risks that cannot be resolved and may impact deliverables or timelines to senior leadership in a timely manner.
  • Lead clinical priority projects through all phases of the project cycleplanning development implementation and evaluationusing a structured project-management framework.
  • Guide project stakeholders through the development execution and evaluation of project components to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to assess team readiness and coordinate multiple project timelines.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics and resources and manage scheduling for project stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders using structured project-management toolsincluding project charters agendas status reportsto ensure goals objectives and timelines are met.

Qualifications :

  • University degree in in a related field (i.e health sciences health/business administration engineering) required
  • Masters degree in in a related field (i.e. health sciences or health/business administration) required
  • 3-5 years of experience in health care or related field required
  • Process improvement application experience within a complex matrix environment is strongly desired;
  • Lean Black belt certification with extensive experience with lean methodologies preferred;
  • Formal Change Management training and certifications is preferred;
  • Experience process mapping value stream mapping and identifying leverage points in hospital clinical areas;
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in health care or related field with process improvement application experience within a complex matrix environment is strongly desired;
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing process improvements in a clinical environment coupled with strong project management expertise;
  • Demonstrated success in implementing change and effectively  managing process improvement resistance;
  • Proven track record in developing strong relationships and trust with key stakeholders by delivering on commitments; 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required; and 
  • Superior communication facilitation influencing and negotiation skills are required;

  • May be required to travel and work between all Osler sites;
  • Excellent attendance punctuality and work record

Additional Information :

Currently Days 8 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:
Minimum:     $88413.00 per annum
Maximum:    $110526.00 per annum
