Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Gardener for a fixed-term contract position in Gaborone Botswana. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our outdoor spaces ensuring they remain vibrant and well-kept throughout the year.
- Plan and execute landscaping projects including planting pruning and maintaining a variety of plants trees and shrubs
- Mow lawns trim hedges and remove weeds to keep garden areas neat and tidy
- Implement and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of all plant life
- Monitor and treat plants for pests and diseases using appropriate methods
- Perform basic maintenance on gardening tools and equipment
- Assist in the design and creation of new garden features such as flower beds or small structures
- Adapt gardening techniques to suit the local climate and soil conditions of Gaborone
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to all safety protocols
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively about garden maintenance needs and progress
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 2 years professional gardening or landscaping experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; horticulture certification preferred
- Extensive knowledge of plant care maintenance and landscaping techniques
- Proficiency in using various gardening tools and equipment
- Experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance
- Familiarity with pest and disease management in gardens
- Basic carpentry skills for minor repairs and building small structures
- Knowledge of local plant species and climate conditions in Botswana
- Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions typical of Gaborone
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Valid drivers license and ability to operate small machinery (preferred)
