Your role in helping us shape the future:

This is a great opportunity for an early-career journalist who wants a range of experiences at a national digital news outlet. You will learn: about our unique and highly respected brand of journalism; the tools and strategies that power a major media brand on the cutting edge of the information age; how to edit commentaries for clarity style and logical argumentation; effective headline writing that maximizes SEO; and how to produce and illustrate articles in our content management system.

Were looking for someone to write newsletters and daily stories on a range of domestic and international topics for our news team as well as for our Best Countries Best States and Healthiest Communities sections. Youll have the chance to work with several editors dabble in CMS production and learn how to make simple data visualizations. Reporters with demonstrated ability will have the opportunity to tackle longer stories as time allows.

Are you up to the challenge

1. Writing and pitching daily and occasionally longer-term stories for the news team and special sections within it. Articles can be short report stories Q&As slideshows breaking news explainers profiles or analytical pieces tied to recent news events.

2. Writing and editing newsletter articles.

3. Perform fact checking.

4. Assist with launches such as the Best Countries launch or the Best States launch if they occur during your tenure.

5. Assist with article production through our content management system (CMS) if needed.

6. Work closely with our data team to strengthen stories and create data visualizations to enhance your work.

7. Create videos and other multimedia products for social media

8. Actively and enthusiastically participate in trainings and team activities

9. Assist with research or administrative tasks as needed.
