Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Program Team Manager Mental Health and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital the Ambulatory Care Nurse working under the general direction of the physicians care plan and collaborating with him/her in adapting the plan of care is responsible for: the assessment of individuals and/or families as well as the planning implementation and evaluation of short and long-term therapy by attending to the relevant physiological psychological and sociological needs of the patient; providing individual group and family therapy; providing consultation to multidisciplinary health care.

Experience

  • Three (3) years clinical experience in acute care psychiatric nursing required (within the last five (5) years).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Baccalaureate of Nursing or BSc of Psychiatric Nursing or RPN with BA (major) in Psychology preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current CRNM/CRPNM registration required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.
  • Knowledge of relevant community agencies/programs required.
  • Group therapy skills and crisis intervention skills required.
