The Blackburn with Darwen Blackpool and Lancashire Child Death Overview Panel have a rare opportunity for a resilient and influential leader to join us as an Independent Chair.
About Us:
The Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) brings together a multi-agency group of professionals to review deaths of all children and young people under the age of 18. The death of a child is a devastating loss that profoundly affects all those involved. These case reviews aim to understand the reasons why learn from and introduce initiatives to prevent child deaths in the future.
The Pan-Lancashire CDOP conduct reviews for all child deaths up to the age of 18 who reside in Blackburn with Darwen Blackpool and Lancashire.
About the Role:
Being an Independent Chair is a challenging yet fulfilling opportunity to influence strategic partners in-turn shaping the landscape of preventative work initiatives to avoid child death across the a difference will be what drives you as this role provides the chance to make a real impact.
Having a strong knowledgeable and effective Chair is imperative to the work we close partnership with the Child Death Review Partners you will lead CDOP meetings encouraging participation from all panel members in discussion and case reviews ensuring that reviews are completed in a timely manner. Following reviews you willidentify learning to inform single and multi-agency preventative initiatives and will be expected to report to and advise the three partnership boards on key issues related to child deaths.
The role is flexible with a need to work two days a month although additional meetings/attendance could be required depending on the needs of the CDOP. Whilst meetings are predominantly held online there is a requirement to attend in-person meetings based at County Hall and so the ability to travel and attend on-site is necessary.
We are keen to appoint an independent personwho is committed and determined to drive the child death review agenda across the county working in accordance with the requirements laid out in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and supporting Child Death Review statutory and operational guidance.
About You:
Were looking for someone who shows excellent leadership alongside the ability to influence and generate productive conversation among panel members to achieve the best outcomes.
Our ideal candidate is someone with:
Significant senior-level experience in public service health or social care.
Ability to build effective relationships and credibility with stakeholders from within a multi-disciplinary strategic partnership.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively analyse complex information.
A strong understanding of medical jargon and safeguarding.
Creative and innovative approach to driving improvement.
This post will be hosted Lancashire County Council on behalf of the PanLancashire Child Death Review partners (ICB and Local Authorities). Therefore to ensure compliance with statutory guidance the Chair will be independent of all Child Death Review partner agencies in Lancashire.
Although you are not a direct employee of the statutory partners HMRC regulations have defined this role as subject to the intermediarys legislation and an IR35 assessment will be undertaken upon appointment.
