Position: Apple Mac System Administrator

Job Description:
Typical Responsibilities:
- Core System Administration
- Manage and maintain macOS environments and Apple hardware at scale.
- Configure deploy and troubleshoot macOS systems (workstations laptops).
- Perform installation updates patching and system upgrades.
- Monitor system performance and security compliance.
- Endpoint & Device Management
- Use tools like Jamf Pro Mosyle Intune or Apple Business/School Manager for device configuration enrollment and policies.
- Oversee MDM profiles security settings and automated deployments.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support for end users including hardware operating system and application issues.
- Troubleshoot networking fundamentals (TCP/IP DNS DHCP) in macOS contexts.
- Resolve escalated service requests and complex problems.
- Reporting & Automation
- Generate technical reports dashboards and logs for systems health and usage.
- Develop scripts (Bash Python PowerShell) to automate configurations and recurring tasks.
- Integration & Collaboration
- Work with other IT teams (Windows cloud services Help Desk) to integrate macOS devices into broader infrastructure.
- Contribute to IT policies documentation and best practices.
- In some roles (e.g. Learning Technology Administrator) manage content systems and internal platforms rather than strict endpoint support.
Typical Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- In-depth experience with macOS administration in an enterprise or corporate environment.
- Proficiency with MDM platforms (Jamf Pro Mosyle Intune etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Apple hardware/software.
- Knowledge of security best practices (encryption compliance vulnerability mitigation).
Scripting & Tools:
- Scripting for automation: Bash Python PowerShell (varies by role).
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation tools.
Education & Certifications:
- College diploma or Bachelors degree in IT Computer Science or related field (preferred).
- Apple-related certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) or Jamf certifications are assets.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in macOS or Apple system administration or related IT support roles is common.
- Experience working with broader IT environments (M365 cloud services) is often valued.
