Job Summary

The AME Mechanic possesses a high degree of expertise in the performance of rigging explosive link-ages/devices applicable to seats and canopy flow checks on egress systems replacement fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy canopy drive and canopy locking mechanisms and provides technical assistance guidance and instruction to employees in the AME Mechanic classification and to others through-out the aviation team as required. May be required to perform Leadman duties when designated and authorized.

The AME Mechanic is directly accountable to Maintenance Control Maintenance Supervisor with over-sight from Work Center Leads.

Major Job Activities

Description:

% of Time Spent

  • Conduct on-the-job training and maintenance of personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout train-ing records and will be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats and explosive devices.
  • Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on Adversary F-5 aircraft.
  • Removes transports inspects repairs and reinstalls ejection seats.

  • Inspects repairs and cleans seat harnesses.
  • Inventories stores removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items.

  • Experienced and qualified in the rigging of explosive linkages/devices applicable to seats and canopy.

  • Will be able to perform flow checks on egress systems; will have experience in the fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy canopy drive and locking mechanisms.
  • Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
  • Performs aircraft inventory acceptance and transfer inspections.

Material & Equipment Directly Used

Work Orders in NALCOMIS/OOMA Standard Navy Support Equipment Lifts Stands Hoists.

Working Environment

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical dis-comfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature wind rain etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Physical Activities

This classification is usually accomplished in a shop/hangar/outdoor flight line-like environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with on equipment/aircraft activities. Typical physical activities include climbing standing bending pushing kneeling stretching walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities to perform this job are close vision depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

  • Must have successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company State/Local Govt DOD regulation/Instruction.
  • Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned i.e. O or I level.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
  • Will have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.

Experience:

  • Aircraft Airframes mechanics shall have three years experience in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field. The last two years must have been as a practicing licensed FAA airframe and power plants mechanic; in the military; civil service (WG-7-10) or with a government aviation maintenance Contractor.

Skills & Technology Used:

  • Must read write speak and understand English.
  • Must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to communicate professionally courteously and respectfully.
