Job Summary

Position Summary

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for assisting in the design installation maintenance and support of Instructional Computing. The position will perform the network and computer technical support activities for the academic labs faculty offices and library.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E2/02.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities

  1. Provide desktop operations support to computer users at the College including installing new computers and necessary software troubleshooting hardware and software problems and evaluating new equipment and software before making purchasing decisions.
  2. Install repair and maintain hardware software updates and peripherals in academic labs tutoring labs faculty offices and library including unpacking testing transporting to user site and interfacing to network and/or main computer systems.
  3. Set up install and assist with maintaining printers for labs or faculty offices.
  4. Perform preventive maintenance and use diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures to ensure optimum performance of labs and networks.
  5. Troubleshoot repair and install plug-ins on students and instructors personal computers and laptops so they can access online materials (Canvas Screencast etc.).
  6. Assist in configuring installing repairing maintaining and troubleshooting the campus networking infrastructure: (routers switches hubs network cards media converters UPS appliances CAT 5 cabling patch cables patch panels RJ45 connectors junction boxes and network racks/frames).
  7. Assist in maintaining campus servers (DNS DHCP etc.).
  8. Assist in managing maintaining and creating user accounts; managing security of user accounts; and responding to user requests questions and issues.
  9. Assist with maintaining campus Internet connectivity and monitoring Internet activity.
  10. Assist with maintaining updating and resolving issues with wireless access points.
  11. Assist instructors in academic labs and classrooms with troubleshooting and repairing projectors (Video RCA and USB connections).
  12. Assist in preparing requisitions for network hardware computer hardware software and supplies.
  13. Demonstrate ethical behavior loyalty honesty and integrity both on and off the campus.
  14. Participate in staff division and committee meetings as assigned.
  15. Actively participate in division/college committees and campus activities.
  16. Other related duties as may be required by the Executive Director of Financial Services and/or President.

  1. Associate of Applied Science in Computer Science or other technology related field from a regionally accredited institution or three years of work experience serving as an IT Support Specialist or related role.
  1. Knowledge of Windows operating systems servers desktops and network technology applications.
