Job description
Cory is one of the UKs leading waste management and recycling companies operating one of the largest energy-from-waste facilities in the country. As part of our core operations we run a thriving shipyard at Gravesend that supports both our own fleet and vessels from external customers. This is a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.
As a Shipyard Mechanical Fitter youll play a vital role in ensuring vessels are maintained to the highest standards. From engines and marine systems to plant and workshop equipment your work will keep operations running smoothly and safely. Youll also help maintain compliance with health safety and environmental legislation making sure the site remains secure and efficient.
This is a hands-on role that combines technical expertise with problem-solving. Youll be involved in everything from mechanical servicing and repairs to operating workshop machinery and managing materials. Flexibility is key while your base will be Gravesend occasional work at Charlton may be required to meet business needs.

Job requirements
Were looking for someone with strong communication skills written and verbal and the ability to document work clearly. Analytical thinking and problem-solving are essential as is experience in material management and computer literacy.
Youll need practical skills in operating workshop equipment such as turning drilling welding soldering and CNC machinery. Adaptability is important as the role may involve working outside normal hours in confined spaces and at height.
While not essential qualifications such as a Diploma in Marine Construction Mechanical Installation or System Engineering and Maintenance would be an advantage. Certificates in Mechanical Engineering or leadership qualifications like ILM Level 2 are also desirable.
